Plan around your baby's best hours
Most one-year-olds are happiest between their first nap and lunch. A late-morning slot (roughly 10:30 AM to 1 PM) usually catches the birthday baby at their best, and gets everyone home before the afternoon crash.
Keep the party to about two hours. Front-load the milestone moment — arrivals and free play first, then the cake and the photo everyone came for, then open play while food is served.
A first-birthday plan that works
