If you have been looking into structured toddler programmes in Gurugram, you have probably come across Mom and Me as a term. It sounds warm and vague at the same time. What actually happens in a session? What will my child learn? And honestly, what am I supposed to do while I am there?

This is a proper look inside what a Mom and Me class actually looks like, week by week, so you can decide whether it sounds right for your child.

What Mom and Me is and what it is not

Mom and Me is a structured toddler programme for children aged 1.5 to 3 years where one parent or caregiver attends the session alongside the child.

It is not a class where you drop your child off and leave. The parent is present, participating, and the relationship between parent and child is part of the learning.

It is not a playdate either. There is a real curriculum, a trained early childhood educator running the session, and intentional activities designed around specific developmental goals.

The best way to describe it is a gentle, structured bridge between home and school. Your child begins to experience a group setting, a routine, instructions from an adult who is not their parent, and activities designed to build school-readiness skills. All of this happens with you right there, so the experience is safe and comfortable rather than overwhelming.

Who runs the sessions?

At Just Goofing, our Mom and Me programme is run by trained early childhood educators. People with backgrounds in child development and early years education, not just caregivers who are good with kids.

Each batch has a maximum of 8 children. That is intentional. Below that number the session feels too small. Above it the educator cannot give each child and parent meaningful attention.

The 4-week rolling curriculum

The programme runs on a 4-week rolling cycle. Every month follows the same broad structure but deepens and builds on what came before.

We have two streams. Stream A is for ages 1.5 to 2.5 years, focused on sensory exploration and early language. Stream B is for ages 2.5 to 3 years, focused on school readiness: sitting in groups, following instructions, early writing and number concepts.

Week 1: All About Me

The first week is always centred on the child themselves. Body parts, emotions, family, and senses. This is the most comfortable starting point because the content is familiar. Activities include mirror play, emotion flashcards, sensory trays, and family drawings. The goal is for children to feel settled and safe in the group before the content gets more unfamiliar.

Week 2: Colours, Shapes, and Textures

Week 2 introduces early concept learning through hands-on play. Colour sorting, shape tracing, texture walks, sponge painting, simple matching activities. For Stream B, this week also introduces shape recognition and simple worksheets.

Week 3: Animals and Nature

A week that nearly every toddler loves. Animal sounds, figurine play, leaf printing, a pretend camping activity, mud sensory bins. The animal week is also when language really starts flowing, because children this age will talk endlessly about dogs and lions in a way they will not about abstract concepts.

Week 4: Transport, Community, and Movement

The final week pulls things together with broader world awareness: vehicles, community helpers, traffic lights, basic safety rules. For Stream B, this week includes a mini obstacle course and a Certificate Day where every child gets a certificate to take home.

Every Friday is a review day: consolidating the week's learning through art, story, and music.

What a single session looks like

Sessions are 60 to 75 minutes long. Here is how a typical Monday session runs.

Arrival and free play, 10 minutes. Children settle in and warm up to the space.

Circle time, 15 minutes. Good morning song, calendar, weather, introduction of the week's theme.

Main activity, 20 minutes. The hands-on learning activity for the day depending on the theme.

Story or song, 10 minutes. A book or action songs related to the theme.

Goodbye circle, 10 minutes. A closing routine that signals the session is ending.

The parent is involved throughout, particularly in the main activity. You are not sitting in the corner on your phone. You are playing alongside your child, which is one of the most powerful things the programme does. It teaches you how to engage with your child in structured, developmental play.

Is Mom and Me the same as a playgroup?

Not quite. A toddler playgroup versus a Mom and Me class comes down to structure and intent. A playgroup is supervised free play with peer socialisation as the main goal. Mom and Me has a curriculum, developmental goals, and progression built into it.

If your child is already very social and has had plenty of peer interaction, a Mom and Me programme will give them the academic and school-readiness components that a playgroup does not.

What changes after 3 months

We see consistent changes across every batch. By month three, most children can sit in a group for 15 to 20 minutes, follow a 2 to 3 step instruction from an adult who is not their parent, recognise letters A to Z, count to 20 with support, hold a pencil correctly, and have a friendship with at least one other child in the group. Drop off is no longer tearful. They walk in confidently and start playing.

That last one is the one that makes parents emotional.

Is it right for your child?

Mom and Me works best for children between 1.5 and 3 years who have not yet started a formal playschool or nursery. It is ideal as a preparation step before school begins, particularly if your child has been at home full-time.

Three sessions a week. 15,000 per month. All materials included.

Come see it for yourself. Book a discovery visit, sit in on a session, and meet the educators. You do not need to commit until you have seen it with your own eyes.

Signs your toddler is ready for group settings

  • Watches other children with curiosity, not overwhelm.
  • Can sit for a story for 3–5 minutes.
  • Recovers from small frustrations within a minute or two.
